For my friend, Jess's wedding, she wanted to wear her mom's dress from the 1970's and asked me to help by redesigning and transforming it into something new.

To match her vintage meets modern style, I decided to refine the silhouette, drawing inspiration from 20s and 30s gowns to flatter her slight figure.  The original dress was made from a pretty off-white eyelet cotton, perfect for the outdoor venue in the Redwoods.  To add detail without making the dress overly formal, I decided on a simple lace overlay (which helped conceal the too high waistline) and a delicate lace trim for texture.

With the dress transformed, we decided to pair it with a pair of grey boots and chunky knit wrap, functional for the outdoor setting and a reflection of Jess's adventurous spirit.
The dress in it's original form.  Revising the fit.  And adding the details.
